no one ever really dies until their reputation lies unspoken every thing you gave to me that I repeat remains out in the open every time I say your name or speak your words then someone is reminded finally I feel at peace while walking the same streets where you and I lived fingerprints and footsteps every mark that you left that's how you stay alive letters full of big ideas opinions that still lead to tears of laughter for this is ink that cannot fade, while i'm a page there's always one more chapter there's a name upon a bench engraved with dates that mention your existence i sit with you and watch the birds until they disappear into the distance little things and in-jokes every word that you spoke that's how you stay alive abide with me

The Sky 04:57
i cannot find you though i've not been looking it's just that i've been thinking which is never a good thing how i could just call you like when i used to be daring now i'm not just shy i'm also retiring there is not a part of this that i don't miss excuse me while i reminisce the sky is still above all this now i cannot place you in any scenario bar the impossible ones where we've both got healthy bones do you treasure the memories like i do? and should i call you tomorrow? you'll hear my steps on the driveway you'll see my face in the window there is not a part of this that i don't love excuse me while i reminisce while the sky is still above all this from the second the needle drops we'll be dancing til the moment the music stops we'll be dancing now that same phone is ringing in your parents hallway i'm taking you dancing (which these days means drinking, then sleeping) so dig out your dancing shoes and i swear i'll follow suit it's only a quarter past nine but did our hips ever click so in time? i bet that we'll look stupid on the dancefloor but i don't care if you don't care look - the sky is still up there from the second the needle drops we'll be dancing til the moment the music stops we'll be dancing when they're sweeping our glass from the floor we'll be singing til they're kicking us out of the door we will carry on singing

you gatecrashed my life the unwelcome castaway you were a little grey cloud it was a clear blue day it was all fine for a while you hid yourself away you were a little grey cloud and i didn't need it to rain then the day you ran away and the house was not the same so we fixed some pictures up and we searched the street in vain we found you trapped behind a wall where you never should have been so we called it east berlin then you weren't going anywhere Mm commander in chief i put my waterproofs on and i gritted my teeth in time i learned we were the same these words you couldn't say out loud when I was feeling down we were two little grey clouds then you broke both your legs and we never found out how when they couldn't fix you up so they had to put you down and we held each other close and we called ourselves humane and our tears felt like rain oh you've got green eyes oh you've got blue skin oh you've got grey fur

arrows on screens glasses in hands this night never ends if the night never ends recipes, comedies everything, families i never once felt like i should carry you this is not how we go out the night is too young on the same train once i called out the platform the track never ends if the track never ends girls who were neighbours eggs mayonnaises you never once asked me to carry you this is not how we go out the night is too young for where we are going the night is too young i'm staying at home

call me a taxi home make it the slowest car they have tell him where we live make him drive the long way there's a twenty in the drawer that should be plenty he can keep the change this time i can't take it with me i need my own bed one last time i've had enough let's drive the long way home

the light goes out the bulb has gone the fuse has blown you carry on if you close your eyes will the darkness stop? how do you tell if i'm even here or not? meet me in the memory of a half-forgotten dream and conjure up the words you think I'd say how can half a conversation just end? nobody to ask you if you're joking no one there to tell you that you're wrong sleep with my pyjamas on the pillow for now we wait but i will smell you later sleep in peace dreams are under-rated but i'll smell you later close the window draw the blinds kiss the picture you have in mind if you go to sleep will the darkness stop? how do you tell if i'm even here or not? meet me in the sunshine of a half-forgotten dream while ever you remember how I feel how does half a conversation just end? nobody to laugh along with your rambling no one there to say you're wrong sleep with my pyjamas on the pillow in peace we wait but i will smell you later sleep for now dreams are under-rated but i'll smell you later how can everything just stop?

is there still love out there like i once saw in here? i think we know there must be we need to make that clear does fear make it this way? have we been so let down that we see no more choice than grind or be the ground? so if not this then what if we have seen the best? we are all arms and heart are we the last ones left? is there a way back home or are we too far from the place we ought to be? if we see the point, do we go on? have we been sold so short  that we see no more love and rage at not what's wrong but at the heart of all that is good so if not this then what is left that is not black? we are all arms and heart we need to bring it back

don't say to me that we've got time when i've not worn a watch since 1985 there is no such thing as being late only angry people who are rarely worth the wait on my death bed when everythings's been said you're unlikely to find me confessing how I wish I'd spent more time worrying about being on time don't say to me that I look tired when I've only just got up and it's 10:45 under the duvet as warm as toast is worth a thousand early morning dismal health kick jokes on my death bed when everything's been said you're unlikely to find me confessing how I wish I'd spent more time worrying about my health don't say to me 'c'mon, let's drink up' when one more drink with you right now feels like just enough here's to all the cheers of evening's passed and i would trade an hour from the end to make this last this software and this hardware could both fail at different times and life will be as long as life will be on my death bed when every rite's been read you're unlikely to find me confessing how I wish I'd spent more time worrying

about

It's been a while hey?

But I had an inkling that what we all wanted was a new album about death, loss and the immutable journey of life, right?

For anyone who has ever lost a friend, family member, lover, pet or indeed, any combination of the above - maybe you will find something within to comfort, enjoy or at least not turn off immediately
